Avocado Smoothie Recipe

With just 5 simple ingredients, this nutrient-packed avocado smoothie recipe blends up in minutes for a satisfying breakfast or hearty snack.

Now, the first thing you’ll taste is the pineapple— one of my favorite natural sweeteners. I love how refreshing pineapple is to any recipe. It’s also one of the more affordable fruits (and easy it is to find in the frozen food section). So even though it’s technically an avocado-holic smoothie, it tastes more like a tropical paradise than a blended avocado.

I often drink this smoothie as my lunch when I’m glued to my laptop and not moving very much. I like that it’s not heavy on the calories, yet it’s quite filling due to the fiber, healthy fats and proteins. This avocado smoothie recipe actually keeps me full for hours, which is impressive!

Health Benefits of an Avocado Smoothie

To make this avocado smoothie recipe, all you need are 5 plant-based ingredients. Each of them has wonderful health benefits as well as foodie reasons. Let me explain…

Avocado

Packed with vitamin E and healthy fats like omega 3’s, avocado is great for the skin and digestive system. It also makes a smoothie extra creamy and decadent. The health benefits of avocado are truly incredible.

Pineapple

This tropical fruit is loaded with immune-boosting vitamin C, and also contains the digestive enzyme bromelain, which aids digestion and decreases inflammation. Pineapple is also a great naturally sweetener because it’s loaded with fiber, which helps slow down the absorption of the sugar into your body.

Spinach

Iron helps transport oxygen around the body and aids in energy production. If you’re feeling tired and low-energy, you may need to add more iron to your diet. I love adding spinach to my smoothies to increase my intake of calcium, iron and fiber.

Cashews

Adding just a few raw cashews to this smoothie makes it thicker, adds more protein and a nutty foundation, which I love.

Cashew milk

Cashew milk acts as a mild base with additional protein to nourish your body. Feel free to swap with almond milk or even water if you don’t have cashew milk on hand (or want to spend the extra money on it).

This banana-free smoothie is naturally sugar free, vegan and delightfully creamy and delicious. Spinach, pineapple, cashew milk, and avocado nourish your body and keep you full and energized for hours.

Fresh ingredients to blend in a healthy smoothie

How to make avocado smoothie recipe

To make this avocado smoothie, you’re gonna need to shop for the 5 ingredients mentioned above. I recommend getting frozen pineapple to save you time cutting and freezing it. Then get out your blender (I prefer a high speed blender to remove all chunks). Blend the spinach, cashews and cashew milk until well blended. Add the remaining ingredients and blend again until smooth.

Allergic to tree nuts?

Although we love the pairing of nutty cashew milk and tropical pineapple, you can easily swap out the cashew milk for an equal amount of oat milk. If you or a family member has a tree nut allergy. You can also use a tablespoon of organic flaxseed in place of the cashews if you want to still get the healthy fat boost.
