Fresh strawberries for a smoothie recipe

Health benefits of strawberries

Strawberries aren’t just delicious, they are also one of the healthiest foods you can eat (or drink). They are chockfull of antioxidants that provide cardiovascular benefits as well as having a positive effect on lowering blood sugar. Not to mention a serving of strawberries has more vitamin C than an orange.

As much as I love strawberries, I wanna talk about my favorite part of this smoothie: the ginger. Oh, it goes so nicely with this strawberry spinach smoothie recipe! It takes an expected taste and just wakes your tastebuds up to happiness.

Strawberry Ginger Smoothie

Health benefits of ginger

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties as well as aiding in digestion and helping the body naturally detoxify. It may also help alleviate pain – from arthritis to menstrual pain and more. Such a great thing to add into your daily smoothie to give it some pep and up the nutrients even more.

Do you peel ginger root in a smoothie?

If using conventional ginger, which means non0-organic, than I would peel it. You don’t want any pesticides joining your health smoothie party. To peel, I turn a spoon around and use it to peel the ginger skin gently. Doesn’t take much work, but does give you peace of mind. If using organic ginger, just toss that baby right in there!
